New Years Eve, Paris, France

New Years in Paris

January 27, 2016 by Amy Johns in Travel, Europe, France, Guide

Its never too early to start planning your next New Years...in Paris! When I was researching what to do in Paris for New Years, I oddly couldn't find much information. So, here is a step-by-step guide to the perfect New Years experience in the City of Light.

Step One: For the NYE festivities, take a Seine River cruise through the city followed by dinner and dancing on board. There is also the option of going to the Champs Elysees where there is a light show and fireworks display culminating around the Arc de Triomphe - think New York's Time Square, but more laid back, without the barricades and you will have the ability to freely move about.

Step Two: New Years Day is when the fun really begins! Plan to sleep in and head to your brunch reservation at Laduree on the Champs Elysees around noon. Have some champagne, an omelet, a yogurt, some macaroons, the works!

Step Three: Immediately following brunch, head outside to the street for the parade that begins at 2 p.m. You will have plenty of chances to catch of a glimpse of the show as the parade begins at Place de la Concorde, heads up to the Arc, then turns and comes back.

Step Four: Enjoy some shopping in the Champs Elysee Christmas <arket. Buy some cashmere, some soap, some vin chaud (hot wine) and a crepe!

Step Five: After taking in the views at Trocadero, take a short walk up the street to Chez Zhong for some of the best Chinese food money can buy! The sweet and sour soup is a must, as are the egg rolls.

Step Six: End your New Years on a high note with a handcrafted cocktail at The Peninsula Paris' swanky Le Bar Kleber. The drinks are not cheap, but you're celebrating! Splurge a little!
