5 Things Atlanta: Christmas

December 20, 2015 by Amy Johns in Travel, USA, The South, Georgia, Atlanta

1. Garden Lights, Holiday Nights at Atlanta Botanical Garden

This holiday light show at Atlanta Botanical Garden is a must see! Grab dinner at one of midtown's bajillion restaurants and head over to the gardens. Enjoy some hot chocolate or an adult beverage and wander through the maze of lights! It gets bigger and better every year!

2. The Streets of Buckhead

Yes, most humans can't actually afford to shop here, but I love all the twinkly trees lit up at night! Do some window shopping a la Breakfast at Tiffany's then grab a seat at Corso Coffee and people watch before dinner. You can't go wrong with the restaurants here. My favorites are The Southern Gentleman for something a little fancier and Fado Irish Pub for some of the best bar food I've ever had the pleasure of eating.

3. Drive down Peachtree Dunwoody

About one mile north of Peachtree Road on Peachtree Dunwoody, you will find kitschy Christmas magic. Seriously, this house is a site to behold. (Make sure to go at night because in daylight hours it very closely resembles Santa's graveyard.)

4. Have drinks at the St. Regis Bar

One of Kyle and I's favorite holiday traditions is drinks at the St. Regis Bar. Whether in the early evening before the crowds hit or late night when things are in full swing, it's just fun to see all the Christmas decorations. And, there's always the off chance of a celebrity sighting.

5. Ponce City Market

My favorite new spot in Atlanta for just about everything. Eating, drinking, shopping, PCM has it all. They also have lots of fun and festive events going on this month including a Ginger Bread House Competition! If you haven't finished shopping yet, this is the spot to find unique gifts for everyone on your list!
